The trail of las laderas takes us from the
Huéznar brook to the locality of Cazalla de La Sierra by an old path coming back by another historical way. This circuit travels by places where the landscape has not been modified and preserves the original sings of The Natural Park of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla, such as the gallery forest.
If we get down from Cazalla the trail begins in what is known as the “Vereda del valle” o “Camino de las Laderas de Cazalla” continuing the descent to the Huéznar brook, travelling by orchards, olive fields and Mediterranean forest. The return is done by the Old Station Way, having remnants of old vineyards and of plantation very important in past eras within the shire.
Other places of interest are the Bridge of Jesus and the so called Bridge of the three eyes, regarding the train station, this is shared with Constantina, entering service in 1885, when the last leg of the line Sevilla-Mérida was inaugurated.
Also of special interest are the “Capas de Campoallá” formation, from the
Cambrian era, which are detrital-carbonated succession from the lower-middle Cambrian, they are composed of alternate layers between banded
slate and impure
limestone deposits with occasional deposits of sandstone.
These lithologies had different resistances to erosion so the slates appear sunken or depressed in relation to the detrital-carbonated, which is scaled much like the landscape where the peaks and elevations in the mountains are formed by lithology more resistant and the valleys and depressed areas correspond to the much easily eroded areas. The “capas” or layers are tilted to the north.
