Oromana is an urban park in the city of Alcalá de Guadaíra,
this is situated on the left shore of the Guadaíra River and it has being
declared National Monument in 2.012, although we could extent it area of
influence in a much larger area and make relate to the right shore of the river
and extent it to the water mills on it.
This was
created thanks to the local town hall being its mayor at the time Pedro Gutiérrez
Calderón in the year 1.929 within the context of the Ibero-American Exposition
of 29 and the architects responsible of the design were Juan Talavera y Heredia
and Aníbal Gonzalez.
The park is
situated over two old land lots, the top one is where we find the Oromana Hotel
which is the work of Juan Talavera y Heredia himself in 1.929 and it is more
sunny, and the lower part more humid and dark which is the heart of the precinct
and of great botanical interest where we can find Acebuches or wild olive
trees, mastic tree, retama, hackberry, palm cabbage, holm oak and various
plants typical of humid areas which indicates the great quantity of water that
was always present in the area due to its springs now many of them running dry.
Besides all
this, its water mills and Weirs are of great interest from a landscape point of
view, it is doubles a place where to take a walk and disappear and very close
from the capital of Seville, a constant source of photographic inspiration, be
it for its beauty, historical interest or the biological one, a little paradise
at the urban doors of a city that cannot be understood without its park.
